ULAB’s GED hosts an online meet and greet on Liberal Arts Education for Sustainable Tomorrow

The Department of General Education at the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh organized an online meet and greet for freshers of the Summer 2021 term on 8 July 2021,  Thursday on the theme of Liberal Arts Education for Sustainable tomorrow.

National Professor Rafiqul Islam, welcomed the students to the department and   highlighted the significance of studying liberal arts. He added that without exposer to GED courses student’s higher education cannot be fulfilled.

ULAB Acting Vice Chancellor Professor Shamsad Mortuza, PhD, in his speech, focused on the importance of liberal arts education and informed that General Education Department plays a key role in the goal of the university. He also added that ULAB is pioneering the liberal Arts Education in the country.

Professor Jude William Genilo, PhD, Dean, School of Social Science and Director, IQAC Cell, ULAB , discussed the importance of bodies of knowledge in the learning process and the importance of General education courses.

Professor M. Mofazzal Hossain, PhD, Dean, School of Science and Engineering  and Professor Syed Akhter Hossain, PhD, Head, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, ULAB, also highlighted the need for free thinking for building a sustainable tomorrow.

The Guest of Honour Professor Suchandra Ghosh, PhD, Department of History, University of Hyderabad, encouraged students to take a keen interest  in the emergence of Bangladesh and learn more about the history and heritage of Bangladesh.
